Pretty simple question. What would YOU want in a carry knife?

Each of us is different and some of us have interesting backgrounds which lead to strange yet sensible reasons as to why we choose certain products. For instance, as a DT instructor I tend to prefer to carry a hard bodied pen in my shirt so that I can use it as a defensive tool. I also prefer to carry a knife of some type.

Me: I prefer a knife to be non-serrated, though there are certain applications the serrated blade is certainly preferred. I've been working on a self defense knife design for a while and it's ready for prototypes to be made. Don't ask for details as I won't give them out until the prototypes are ready, but I will tell you it's nasty by design and its purpose is just as sinister as its appearance.

So what were my needs? I needed something to be ambidextrous and most folders simply aren't readily ambidextrous without removing a pocket clip. Well that creates a problem for me. I needed something ergonomic. Sadly, most any folder or fixed blade isn't ergonomic to say the least. The physics needed to allow the blade to do the maximum amount of work output vs the energy that was input. It had to work with natural body movements that are present in a defensive situation. Lastly it had to be able to be available in full serrated and non-serrated versions.

So what would YOU need in a knife?
